Summary

This paper discusses refractory materials in contact with glass in container glass furnaces. The properties of CR95WB isostatically pressed chromic oxide blocks are described. Experimental- and industrial-scale results in flint container glass furnaces with a new design concept are presented. It is shown that CR95WB chromic oxide blocks are suitable for use in clear flint glass furnaces, and give no hue to glass products if the employment is confined to critical areas in melt contact.
