Summary

Advanced control is one of the most important tools for increasing glass quality and production in existing furnaces. This paper describes a method by which advanced control can be applied in the glass industry. Some practical experience with advanced control with the GS Expert System II on a forehearlh is shown and explained. The present state of control in the glass industry is very poor; therefore the potential increase in benefits by advanced control systems is very high for the glass production system.
