Summary

The manufacture of four industrial aluminous cements by two different continuous processes, fusion and sintering, is broadly described. The quality control principles involved are reviewed and illustrated, with a commentary on sampling and testing. Information on quality assurance of finished product is provided emphasizing rheological properties and high purity cements. Some examples of progress in manufacturing control are given in the context of a permanent commitment to quality improvement. Process knowledge and the use of statistical principles are seen as vital requirements.
