Summary

A series of refractories including conventional brick, high alumina castables, and low water vibration mixes were evaluated for aluminum salt bath applications. The results of petrographic studies and physical property testing including pore size distribution, thermal dilation under load, thermal cycling in an induction furnace, and NaCl/KCl/CaF2 salt bath testing are presented.
