The protection of consumers/distributors/manufacturers is becoming even more important and certification plays a very important role. In Europe the need is felt for a harmonization of existing certification systems and quality marks; to do this, work is in progress within Europe to create a network of mutually recognized and well-experienced test houses, to establish common criteria for inspections in factories, to achieve mutual recognition of national test reports, and to prepare guidelines specific to the ceramic floor/wall tile industry according to the ISO Recommendations/Standards. The goal is to achieve a common European approach to total quality in the ceramic tile industry.
