Summary

The results of periodic and regular controls of gaseous emissions, performed over an 11 -year period com 1981 to 1991) in more than 60 ceramic tile factories, are presented and discussed On the basis of these results, the effectiveness of the air pollution regulations in force in Italy during the aforementioned period is assessed, and the main actual problems are indicated The evolution of the quality of gaseous emissions during the period under examination is compared with the progress and evolution of ceramic tile production and technology, as well as of the pollution control techniques.
