Summary
In 1991, Corning adopted ISO 9000 as the corporate quality management system standard. What precipitated that action, how ISO 9000 fits into Coming's world-class quality efforts, and the relationship between the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and ISO 9000 will be reviewed In addition, Coming's approach to deploying ISO 9000 as a corporate-wide standard and the current implementation status will be discussed.
