Summary

Advanced ceramic materials constitute an emerging technology with a very broad base of current and potential applications and an ever growing list of material compositions. The applications can be broadly categorized into structural ceramics, electronic ceramics and high-performance ceramic coatings. This paper provides an overview of the U.S. advanced ceramics industry, as well as the current and future markets for each of these broad categories, and identifies the market segments. Also included in the paper is the current market for ceramic matrix composites.
