Summary

Due to fabrication of Y2O3/nano-sized SiC composites, possibility of high-temperature-structural material of Y2O3 is explored. The obtained material indicated high strength of 750MPa at 1200°C. From microstructual observation, it was found that nano-sized SiC particles are dispersed both within Y2O3 matrix grains and at grain boundaries. The relations between microstructure and mechanical properties at room temperature and high temperatures will be also discussed in detail.
