Summary

Ceramic-tile dimensional changes occurring during the coating-glazing cycle require precise machining offsets to meet the tolerance requirements. The present paper describes the development of tile machinlng-offset equations for simple geometries, explains their implementation during manufacture, and discusses the dimensional yields obtained for the first three Shuttle Orbiters.
