Summary

The worldwide development in ceramics led to new interest in the properties of boron nitride and aluminum nitride. For example, sintered parts, made from high purify AIN, give new possibilities for high-power microelectronics, and BN has interesting properties for the electronic industry and for high temperature applications. Developments in sintering technique and powder production methods allows us today to produce parts with extraordinary properties. This paper gives a short survey on production methods of hexagonal boron nitride powder and aluminum nitride powder, the processing of compacts, and the properties and use of these materials.
