Summary

A brief overview of the use of microcomputers for measurement and control of kilns and ceramic plants is given. These systems are a major step forward in bringing about full automation of plants in the ceramic industry. It has been found that better quality control can be obtained and that processes are less prone to human error. In some installations, diagnostic routines have been used to help the kiln self-analyze problems during the burn without attention from the kiln firemen.
