Abstract

Consider a system that is repaired or replaced at failures. The problem is to analyze the availability of the system, at a fixed point in time or for an interval [u, v]. This article presents models and methods for analyzing the availability, both for one-unit systems and more complex systems comprising several components (monotone systems). Exact formulae as well as approximation approaches based on asymptotic results are covered.
