Abstract

The article contains a summary of basic results for a single-server queue. For the case where interarrival and service times are i.i.d., one can find results on stability and continuity, regenerative structure, moments of stationary waiting times, Little's laws, heavy-traffic limits, and tail asymptotics (both for light and heavy tails). In the case of stationary and ergodic driving sequences, the key stability result is given.
