Clinical judgment is the cognitive process by which a clinician estimates a clinically relevant parameter for an individual patient or client. The product of that process (the parameter itself) may also be referred to as “a clinical judgment.” Although there are many parameters that a clinician might estimate, the two most important classes of parameters are, broadly speaking, probabilities of a clinical event and values for clinical states.
