Abstract

Forensic consulting occurs when psychologists support one side's attempts to prevail over another in civil and criminal legal proceedings. Unlike expert witnesses, who are expected to approach each case in an unbiased fashion and to testify about their findings under oath, forensic consultants strive from the very beginning to identify helpful information and winning strategies for the party that retains them, secure in the knowledge that they will never take the witness stand.
