G. Stanley Hall is honored as the founder and promoter of organized psychology as a science and profession. He founded the American Psychological Association in 1892, was its first president, and in 1887 founded the first psychological journal in America, the American Journal of Psychology. He also founded other journals: the Pedagogical Seminary (later the Journal of Genetic Psychology) in 1894, the Journal of Religious Psychology in 1904, and the Journal of Applied Psychology in 1917.
