Alexander Luria graduated from the University of Kazan, Russia, at the age of 19 in 1921. He entered medical school in the late 1930s and earned degrees of MD, EdD, and DMed from the University of Moscow, where he later became a professor in the Department of Psychology and head of the Department of Neuropsychology. Luria was influenced in the direction of his studies and research by Vygotsky, whom he met in 1924.
