Multicultural assessment focuses on the evaluation of individuals, taking into account their cultural context. Multicultural assessment involves “a continuing and open-ended series of substantive and methodological insertions and adaptations designed to mesh the process of assessment and evaluation with the cultural characteristics of the group [individual] being studied” (Padilla & Borsato, 2008, p. 6). Assessment results influence educational opportunities, diagnosis, and employment. Therefore, culturally appropriate testing practices are critical given the potentially important and long-term consequences for the examinee.
