Abstract

Piaget published his first scientific paper at the age of 10 and received his doctorate in 1917, at the age of 21, from the University of Neuchatel, for his research studies on mollusks. After working in a psychology laboratory in Zurich, he went to Paris and to Geneva, where he studied the psychology of thought and was appointed Professor of Psychology in 1940. In 1952, he was named Professor of child psychology at the Sorbonne in Paris. He was actively involved in UNESCO and in educational activities in Switzerland.
