In the last three decades a strong and empirically supported consensus has emerged that psychotherapy is effective. Therefore one might expect that the question “Which elements in psychotherapy therapy are responsible for its effectiveness?” would have straightforward answers supported by reasonable consensus in the profession. This, however, is not the case.
