School learning is both formal and informal. Formal learning is associated primarily with instructional processes and content applied by teaching staff. Less directly, it also stems from schoolwide socialization processes, such as exposure to institutional standards and their enforcement. Informal learning at school, sometimes called the hidden curriculum, is associated with experiences of success and failure and with modeling and social persuasion.
