Abstract

A. Noam Chomsky is a controversial figure in psycholinguistics and probably the foremost theorist in the field. For his achievements, he has received numerous honorary doctorates. Chomsky was educated at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received the BA, MA, and PhD (1955) degrees. From the time he received his PhD he has been on the faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, although he has offered courses and lectured throughout the world, including Oxford and Berkeley Universities.
