Summary

Every value in the range of the distribution is equally likely to occur. This is the distribution taken by uniform random numbers. It is widely used as the basis for the generation of random numbers for other statistical distributions. This chapter illustrates the probability density function for the R: a, b variate, with the corresponding distribution function and the hazard function for the R: 0, 1 variate. It discusses variate relationships, parameter estimation and random number generation for the rectangular (uniform) continuous distribution.
