Abstract

The preparation of the cyclopropane derivatives by decomposition of pyrazolines formed from hydrazine and α,β-unsaturated ketones or aldehydes is generally referred to as the Kishner decomposition. Additionally, the use of unsaturated carbonyl compounds and diazomethane has modified the pyrazoline preparation reaction. The study finds that the stability of pyrazolines varies considerably, decomposing to cyclopropanes at different rates. This reaction has been applied in the preparation of cyclopropane derivatives.
