Abstract

Colin Gunton will likely be remembered as a key figure in the revival of interest in trinitarian theology in the late 20th century. Colin Ewart Gunton was born on January 19, 1941, and died on May 6, 2003. Raised in Nottingham, England, Gunton studied at Oxford: he read “Greats” at Hertford College (graduating in 1966), received the M.A. from Mansfield College (1967), and the doctorate in 1973, with a dissertation exploring the doctrine of God in Charles Hartshorne and Karl Barth.
