Sometimes called the “apostle of literacy” or the “apostle of compassion,” Frank Laubach was an American evangelical missionary and world literacy champion who traveled the globe tirelessly. What Jan Comenius, the father of modern education, sought to offer to the 17th century through renewing the methods of education, Laubach did for literacy in the 20th century. Both were spiritual leaders and therein was the primary motivation for their educational and literary efforts.
