Abstract

The well-known Christian theologian, Wolfhart Pannenberg, was born in 1928 in Stettin, Germany, which has been part of Poland since World War II. Although he was baptized as an infant in a Lutheran church, he was, until the age of 16, a nominal Lutheran. This changed when he unexpectedly became interested in Christian theology. According to him, he became interested in theology on January 6, 1945, when he was “flooded by light and absorbed in a sea of light,” while walking home from his piano lesson. From that day on, he embarked on a theological journey that has attracted the attention of theologians, both conservative and liberal, worldwide.
