Abstract

Ernst Troeltsch was a German theologian associated with the History of Religions School. After studying at the universities in Erlangen and Göttingen, Troeltsch taught briefly in Göttingen and Bonn before accepting a position at the University of Heidelberg in 1894. In 1915 he accepted the Philosophy chair in Berlin, where he remained until his death in 1923.
