Nicholas Kassatkin, in keeping with Russian Orthodox tradition, respected the traditional language and culture of the Japanese people among whom he served for 51 years. His work was largely free from Russian political interests as it stressed evangelization of the family, the raising of national workers, and the indigenization of the church.
