Summary

The chapter presents a systematic and exhaustive literature review on nanostructured α-Fe2O3, from synthesis, to characterization, to its application as electrode in photoelectrochemical cell for producing hydrogen using sun light and water. In this context, some of the recent strategies, proven to be useful, in improving the performance of PEC cell have been described and analyzed. A discussion on efficiency of solar hydrogen production is also being included with some recommendations for realizing efficient PEC system using nanostructured α-Fe2O3.
