Abstract

Different theoretical aspects of electrochemical outer sphere reactions are briefly discussed. This introductory overview includes classical models based on transition state theory, quantum mechanical models that employ first-order time-dependent perturbation theory as well as more generalized approaches that are suited for the study of both adiabatic and non-adiabatic reactions. Stochastic aspects as well as recent computer simulations are also addressed.
