Abstract:
This chapter contains sections titled:
An account is given of the origins of proposals to close all mixed-stock salmon net fisheries around the coast of the UK and of the lobbying by the North Atlantic Salmon Fund (NASF)(UK) and the government response and funding. The northeast coast drift-net fishery and its effects on wild fish stocks are described. A summary of negotiations to date is given and the cost of funding and the choices faced by NASF(UK).
