Summary

This chapter provides an overview of the evidence supporting the use of CBT in conjunction with medications in patients with drug and alcohol abuse. The use of newer agents to facilitate abstinence in alcohol abuse and dependence and opiate abuse and dependence is described. Principles that facilitate collaborative care and a team approach are illustrated with clinical examples.
