Summary

This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the literature supporting the use of CBT and psychotropic medication, both alone and in combination, for major depression. Particular attention is paid to chronic and recurrent depression, along with a discussion of how to work with primary care physicians, how to make behavioral activation more effective, how to manage the suicidal patient, and how to work with patients who have depression and co-morbid anxiety.
