Abstract

The recycling of carbon fiber composites involves significant technical and economic challenges. Current work is focused on the development of efficient and cost-effective methods to break down the matrix and extract the fibers without damaging the fibers or degrading their mechanical properties. There are several drivers for this effort, including the desire for environmentally friendly waste recycling, governmental regulations, and economic advantages for post consumer applications in automotive and other industries.
