Pneumatic tires are complex structures made of a peculiar composite material, an elastomeric matrix reinforced with different types of fabric. The characteristics and performance of pneumatic tires are deeply affected by their geometric and material properties and above all by their compliance, which dominates their rolling resistance and their capability of exerting tangential forces on the ground and of absorbing road irregularities during the motion of the vehicle.
