Summary

This chapter extends the TwoUse approach and introduces agogo, an approach that provides a development environment for application programming interfaces (APIs) developers to handle complex mappings, to define and to reuse complex ontology design patterns (OPs), and to automatically generate ontology API code. Moreover, it presents the results of comparing agogo with existing ontology API code, showing drastic reduction in size. The chapter derives the requirements based on the experience in developing APIs for core ontologies (COMM, X - COSIMO, and Event-Model-F). It presents the techniques and artifacts used by agogo to tackle these requirements. The chapter describes how agogo uses these techniques and artifacts by providing examples. It analyzes how the agogo approach allows for improving quality of ontology APIs based on the quality characteristics.
