This chapter presents a literature review and describes a domain analysis of ontological technical spaces and meta object facility (MOF) technical space, explaining the features of the different paradigms. It analyzes their similarities and describes frequently used patterns for transformations between instantiations of metamodeling technical spaces and ontological technical spaces. Ontology technologies and model - driven engineering have distinct foci. The chapter defines basic similar concepts between unified modeling language (UML) class-based modeling and web ontology language (OWL) modeling. It then presents an understanding of the domain in the form of a feature model.
