Summary

This chapter discusses Thin-film transistor (TFT) technologies for active -matrix driving. There are two basic types of TFT structure, according to the electrode configuration: top-gate TFT and bottom-gate TFT. The chapter discusses the TFT fabrication process for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) application is. A transistor that switches on and off depending on the gate electrode potential is called a field effect transistor (FET). Especially, an FET whose channel conductance is modulated by the gate electrode placed across the dielectric layer is called a metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) or metal insulator semiconductor field effect transistor (MISFET). The chapter discusses the methods for designing a high-quality display with OLED devices.
