Summary
This chapter comprehensively addresses physical signs of the nail unit. Physical signs are organized by the manner in which the nail unit is affected: by modification in the configuration of the nail unit, modification of the nail plate, modification of the nail plate and soft tissue attachments, modifications in perionychial tissues, modification in the consistency of the nail, and modification in color. Common, unusual and rare physical signs affecting the nail unit are presented.
