  • coastal dunes;
  • sea level

This chapter discusses the history of coastal dunes. Changing sea level is the strongest rhythm of formation and destruction in coastal dunes, although they do not wholly avoid the influence of the climatic rhythms that drive inland dunes, particularly episodes with stronger winds. The same applies to coastal calcareous aeolianites, although they better resist destruction, given their lithification.
