Summary
This chapter explores the understanding of shame and pride as they relate to eating disorders (EDs). Various shame and pride responses are described along with suggestions about how these might be addressed during treatment. The relationship between shame and pride and their links with different kinds of eating-disordered behaviours is highlighted, together with clinical implications for therapist training, skills and service provision.
