Summary

Colonoscopy plays a key role in the diagnosis and treatment planning of colorectal cancer. This chapter approaches the necessity of endoscopic evaluation in terms of confirming a pathologic diagnosis, providing appropriate preoperative localization, and aiding in stage determination. The therapeutic decisions based on appropriate staging will be emphasized. The available recommendations for postoperative endoscopic surveillance will be reviewed. The chapter will also touch upon endoscopic symptom relief of bleeding or obstruction.
