Summary

This chapter reflexively considers the interrelationships among identity, religion, death, and the academic field of the anthropology of religion. Engaging in a form of autoethnography, the author uses her personal and family experience to provide insight into broader cultural processes of identity formation and meaning-making in contemporary North American society.
