  • clinical trials;
  • data analysis;
  • statistical methodology

In the context of clinical trials, the aim is to assign a therapeutic response to a particular experimental medicine or therapeutic regimen. Basically, the data analysis of a clinical trial is processed in seven sequential stages. This chapter discusses each of these seven sequential stages in greater detail. The discussion focuses on the main aspects in which an inappropriate statistical methodology may eventually contaminate the study by factors external to the experience, thus compromising the assignment of causality of the observed effects to the test treatment.
