Tension-type headache is frequently encountered in clinical practice as well as the general population, making the diagnosis and treatment of tension-type headache crucial. The aim of this chapter is to suggest treatment approaches based on the available studies and guidelines in the field. Diagnosis, pathophysiology and treatment strategies are discussed. The various classes of medications used in episodic and chronic tension-type headache are explored and an overview of treatment across the lifespan is presented with brief sections on the treatment of tension-type headache in children and the elderly.
