Summary

Many children suffer from both neurologic disorders and sleep disorders. Treatment of the underlying sleep disorder may lessen or resolve the neurologic symptoms. Sleep disorders are commonly seen in patients with headaches, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury or concussions, developmental delay, neuromuscular disorders, hypersomnia or narcolepsy, parasomnias, neuropathy, and hyperactivity or behavior disturbances. This chapter reviews the detailed sleep medicine history, evaluation and treatment considerations specific to children with sleep disorders.
