Abstract

Of the 35 radioactive isotopes, only 201Tl and 204Tl with half-lives of 73 h and 3.78 y are applied in medicine and materials analysis. Both are usually generated in situ on site in small amounts just prior to use in cyclotrons. Owing to the small amounts applied and generated, they are of minor concern as environmental radionuclides despite their high mobility under physiological and environmental conditions.
