Abstract

This chapter covers the chemistry of organocerium(IV) complexes as well as “pseudo-organometallics” of tetravalent cerium. The latter comprise mainly the alkoxides and siloxides as well as various amido and amidinato complexes of cerium in the oxidation state +4. True organocerium(IV) complexes are thus far restricted to a handful of cyclopentadienyl derivatives and some cerocene sandwich complexes. Cerium(IV) complexes comprising specially designed N-heterocyclic ligands comprise the latest addition to the field.
